Comedian Evan Wecksell Announces Helping Hand
Comedy Tour 2007
Fraternity Alumnus,
Musical Comedian Evan Wecksell announces September comedy tour through
the Midwest and California.
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA (OPENPRESS)
September 4, 2007 - He may no longer be in college, but Musical
Comedian Evan Wecksell is returning to his fraternity roots in a big
way.
From Thursday,
September 6 to Friday, September 21, Wecksell has announced his
"Helping Hand Tour 2007," a thirteen-show stint across the Midwest and
California where most of the shows will be recruitment events for
Theta Chi, an international fraternity he joined while attending Tufts
University in Medford, Massachusetts.
Wecksell will also
perform for Chi Phi Fraternity at Indiana University on Friday,
September 7 and Delta Chi Fraternity at Depauw University on Monday,
September 10.
While many fraternity
recruitment events are meet and greets, the comedy show will provide
the fraternities an attractive difference in their schedule by
appealing to students who may not initially want to rush the Greek
system.
At 28, Wecksell is
young, but his experience is beyond his years. He performs over 100
shows every year and has appeared on such pop culture television shows
as VH1's "I Love the 80s 3D" and E!'s "30 Most Outrageous Celebrity
Feuds."
"Those clip shows were
great exposure," says Wecksell. "After one aired, my mom's coworker
came in the next day and asked, 'Do you know a comedian on TV named
Evan Wecksell?' That keeps my mom in the loop."
Since moving to Los
Angeles in 2005, Wecksell also built an acting career that now
includes several film, commercial and industrial projects.
Wecksell's tour kicks
off September 6 at the University of Kansas. This show will take place
in the Student Union.
"Personally, I am
ecstatic," says Mitch Creed, Recruitment Chair of Theta Chi at
University of Kansas.
Other shows will take
place in the fraternity house itself such as the long awaited
appearance at Ball State University on Tuesday, September 11.
Ryan Stemen of Theta
Chi Fraternity at Ball State is as excited for the show as anyone. "He
needs to come to Ball State! That is all i am going to say," exclaims
Stemen. "Come. Play. Meet some really great folks. Laugh. Dance. Sing.
Make fun of Posh Spice."
The Midwest leg of the
tour ends Monday, September 17 at Purdue University.
Wecksell will then tour
Southern and Northern California where the last scheduled tour date is
September 21 at University of the Pacific in Stockton. It will be
Wecksell's second appearance at Pacific, however this time around it
will be a schoolwide show.
"I did a rush event for
Theta Chi in Spring 2006," recalls Wecksell. "I've been wanting to
return ever since."
While Wecksell's
schedule seems at capacity, he does not plan to end things in
Stockton.
"Every day a different
gig pops up," notes Wecksell. "Any day I can end up in any state.
Welcome to the entertainment industry."

About Evan Wecksell:
Comedian and Singer-Songwriter Evan Wecksell is one of the funniest
and most energetic performers to emerge from New York’s comedy clubs
and musical venues. Often compared to comedic superstars Adam Sandler
and Stephen Lynch, Evan’s act is a blend of comedy and music that
celebrates the college experience, endorses unorthodox relationships,
and makes fun of bad music. His comedy has been played on radio
stations all over the world including Sirius Satellite Radio and the
nationally syndicated Dr. Demento Radio Show. Evan has also appeared
on such pop-culture shows as VH1's "I Love the 80s" and E!
Television’s "30 Most Outrageous Celebrity Feuds." For more
